Description

Are you a seasoned Workforce Planner with a minimum of 6 years experience with an interest in supporting the HR team of a growing and reputable organization? Our client, located in downtown Toronto and a leader in the gold mining industry, is seeking a strong Workforce Planner, for a 6-12 month contract to start, to support the growth of their organization. You will have the opportunity to create a framework, plan, execute and monitor the organization’s business strategy to ensure we employ enough workers with the right skills at the right time.You will have the flexibility to work 100% remotely from home and travel will only be required to visit our global sites for 1-2 weeks (1 week or so at a time) for each mining project. During these visits you will gather information in order to plan and assess workforce needs. These projects will be spread out so you will mostly be working from home.

A Day in The Life of a Workforce Planner:

  • Create a framework used to align the needs and priorities of the organization with those of the workforce to ensure it will meet local legislation, regulations and production requirements. This will include reviewing current the workforce, future needs and production and utilizing this plan as a framework for future upcoming mining efforts and projects
  • Collect organizational data and use this information to generate reports on work volume and projected staffing needs. The reports are generated on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis as needed and this data is used to improve business operations, including how to optimize work schedules, identify critical positions, when to reassign workers and pinpoint jobs that have become obsolete.
  • Your plan examines short-term staffing needs, usually for the upcoming year, keeping in mind long-term needs as well. You will look at the number and type of skilled workers needed and how much it will cost to hire these individuals. Using this analysis, you will propose a staffing plan and staffing budget.
  • Working with company decision-makers, you will help the company develop strategies for retention, recruitment, training, coaching and knowledge management.
You Will Have the Following:
  • University Degree with a minimum of 6-8 years of workforce planning experience including previous experience creating workforce planning frameworks
  • Experience working in the mining industry considered a strong asset but not required
  • Experience executing workforce plans and experience with company re-organizations
  • Strong technical skills and experience with workforce analysis
  • The ability to think both logically and creatively with a business-focused approach
  • High degree of organization and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Strong communication, influencing, innovation, project management and collaboration skills
  • Bilingualism in french & english is a strong asset
  • Must have a valid passport for international travel - minimal travel required
