Position Overview

The Intern will work closely under the Manager, Development, Design & Engineering, and will be primarily accountable for providing technical engineering, architectural, and design support to project stakeholders through effective analysis, communication, and coordination skills. The ideal candidate has the ability to problem-solve using sound professional judgement, technical and business acumen, can effectively facilitate internal and external meetings, and is a self-starter.

The Intern role will start on May 15th to August 25th.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide detailed technical feedback during early stages of development approvals through to building permit
  • Coordinate consultant submittals to ensure various disciplines are in line with final anticipated state of design
  • Review working drawings to ensure they are coordinated and reflective of design intent
  • Support the preparation of project schedules and budget estimates
  • Support the preparation of RFPs and coordinate consultant contracts
  • Support the preparation and presentation of information to the internal project team
  • Aid in pushing corporate sustainability objectives through project pipeline
  • Perform various administrative duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management (completed or near completion)
  • Proficient in reviewing drawing packages
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PPT, Project, OneNote)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revitt considered an asset
  • Familiarity with typical planning approvals process
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present
  • Strong business acumen considered highly important
  • Pursuit of PMP designation and/or LEED/other sustainability designation considered an asset
