Job purpose

As the Key Account Manager for Marcatus, you’ll be accountable and responsible for managing all aspects of the business relationship including negotiating agreements, overseeing daily operations, pricing/data integrity and communications on all branded and private label products for two of Marcatus’ largest key accounts with a focus on Mexico.

Reporting into the Sales Manager, you will provide insights, analytics and develop business recommendations for specific customer accounts, taking into consideration strategies and the customer’s business challenges.

Through coordination with internal teams and working with the customer, you will drive growth for both the Customer and Marcatus.

This is a key role within the organization that will have the ability to greatly impact the expansion plan and overall growth of Marcatus.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the customers in the development and execution of sales strategies that maximize volume, profitability and share results across the regions through monitoring financial results and consumer consumption data/market analysis and making strategic recommendations to achieve agreed upon targets.
  • Provide advice and guidance in the development of the customer’s Annual Business Plans for branded & private label by validating future trade strategies and identifying key category opportunities. Ensure follow-up of the strategic execution and achievement of agreed upon Plan.
  • Lead in establishing Marcatus as a preferred supplier in assigned categories by negotiating agreements either as preferred or exclusive based on the opportunity and corporate priorities and maximize Marcatus’ portfolio availability within the customer.
  • Present category reviews and overall business updates, at time of semi-annual business reviews with customers or launch of new product by analyzing internal, customer specific and market data. Develop presentations and include input from cross-functional team members for presentations. Identify issues and opportunities to further develop Marcatus’ business results.
  • Negotiate product category agreements with the customer’s which includes conducting category reviews, developing formal financial proposals, interaction with internal stakeholders, recommending pricing strategy and obtaining approvals.
  • Act as liaison between the customer and the internal Marcatus team to communicate information/data on issues, status of procurement and delivery as well as implementing price adjustments.
  • Determine customer sales requirements by conducting forecasting, managing supplier relationships and overseeing order fulfillment as well as receiving sales requests, booking orders and following up on order completion.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business or agriculture-related field of study ideal
  • Fluent in English and Spanish written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in effectively managing major key accounts for 5 plus years.
  • Experience ideally inthe agricultural industry.
  • Excellent communication and people skills. 
  • Ability to penetrate customer beyond immediate contact and build strong working relationships.
  • Achievement-oriented with the drive to meet and surpass objectives.
  • Strong analytical, planning and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in working with cross-functional teams to achieve business results.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and demands.

  • Previous experience in working with global teams is a plus.
