Position Overview

This Intern role will support the Transactions team and will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the field at a fast-paced real estate company. Throughout the work term, students will participate in a number of exciting events, including department information sessions, coffee chats with senior leaders, company-wide culture events, quarterly Town Halls, and skill-building workshops.

The Intern role will start on May 15th to August 25th.

During this program, you will:

  • Work and communicate with a variety of teams across the organization, expanding your business network
  • Gain practical experience capturing, classifying, and maintaining records
  • Learn how to build and apply content taxonomies

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ad hoc projects related to acquisitions, dispositions, portfolio management and financing.
  • Prepare, research and summarize market analysis and trends (such as demographics, technology, competition, supply, future infrastructure, etc.) for various projects, markets and assets under review which may include attending events, speaking with the brokerage community, and staying current on market news
  • Reviewing, summarizing and incorporating third party findings in diligence analyses (e.g. cost consultants, geotechnical reports, etc.)
  • Verifying details about potential investments by completing necessary due diligence activities.
  • Supporting the group during preparation of presentations and approval packages for management and investment committee approvals
  • Support the Transactions team during the closing of acquisition and disposition transaction as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in progress in commerce, finance, accounting, urban development, economics or real estate
  • Experience in Excel, PowerPoint and familiarity with ARGUS preferred
  • Passion for real estate
  • Due diligence and analytical skills
  • Outgoing and collaborative personality and ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to deal with people at all levels of the organization in a professional manner.
