SUMMARY

The Director, HR Business Partner (HRBP) reports to the President and works closely with the business’ senior leaders in order to develop an HR agenda that closely supports the overall aims of the business.You will be responsible for aligning business objectives with employees, management, and union officials. You will serve as a consultant to business leadership on human resource-related issues, assessing and anticipating HR-related needs and communicating those needs proactively with leadership.An employee champion and change agent.  Leading a team of 3 direct reports, you will formulate partnerships across the HR function globally to deliver value-added service and seek to develop integrated solutions that reflect the overall business objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic HR advisor to senior management

  • Develop a comprehensive people strategy and HR agenda that will help deliver the business strategy, leveraging/building relationships at key levels in the organization

Act as a catalyst for continued business performance

  • Ensure that HR strategies and plans are translated into concrete actions and tangible results contributing to business performance
  • Shape the organization structure by aligning people and capabilities with key objectives in support of business operations
  • Match resource capability to changing business requirements and conditions, maintaining a workforce plan (quantity and quality) and making resource projections
  • Enable a working environment driven by the desired Scepter culture

Deliver operational excellence in HR

  • Consults continuously with line management providing  HR functional expertise
  • Drive for uniform and best practice processes to enable consistent quality service delivery focused on achieving agreed objectives
  • Measure and monitor HR service delivery to ensure prompt, corrective action in any cases of dissatisfaction or issues with delivery; analyzes trends in metrics to develop solutions and implement programs and policies
  • Make sure the right governance model is established and the entire business HR team works seamlessly together
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Works closely with management, employees and union representatives to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Leads the talent acquisition process, ensuring high quality through talent hires, promotions and transfers and provides guidance on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Identify training needs for the business and individual development planning, participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Business Acumen: Possesses an in depth knowledge and experience of the business and its intricacies and an ability to communicate in business terms. Understands key financial metrics and what drives the business
  • Professionalism: Knowledge of human resources policies, procedures and practices and ability to interpret and apply them
  • Planning and Organizing: Proactive and takes initiative ; strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multi-task, organize and manage projects through to completion;
  • Customer Focus: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “customers” and seeks to see things from customers’ point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in HR, Business Management or Industrial Relations
  • MBA/post-graduate degree in Human Resources or related fields an asset
  • Minimum 10 years related HR experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated employee relations experience, including providing clear guidance in difficult or ambiguous situations
  • Minimum of 5 years labour relations experience, including negotiating collective agreements and managing the grievance procedure is a nice to have
  • Minimum of 5 years of executive and leadership coaching experience
  • Experience in the change management aspect of new programs and initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of Human Rights Legislation, Health & Safety, Trade Union Act and Labour Standards Policies/Guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and also within a team environment
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, ADP and HRIS systems
  • Experience supporting multiple locations preferred
  • CHRL/CHRE designation or in progress required

TRAVEL DEMANDS

Travel up to 30% to provide operational support, HR team management and to attend business or broad HR meetings is required
