Position Overview

Development initiatives are a key component of Choice Properties’ business model, providing the opportunity to add high quality real estate at a reasonable cost. Choice Properties has internal development capabilities as well as established relationships with strong real estate developers. With significant intensification and redevelopment opportunities and a long-term pipeline of potential mixed-use development projects, Choice Properties is well positioned for long-term growth and value creation.

The Intern role will start on May 15th to August 25th.

During this program, you will:

  • Work and communicate with people across all levels of the organization, while expanding your business network
  • Perform amongst a variety of teams and develop new skillsets and sources of knowledge
  • Learn and grow as you demonstrate leadership and make connections across our group of companies

Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end, quarter-end development project level close, all related accounting activities including record journal entries, accruals, maintain and reconcile general ledger
  • Maintain working paper files for each project including full project GL balance reconciliation
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal business partners to remain informed about development project status
  • Assist in the maintenance of internal control policies and procedures
  • Assist capital projects team in preparation of cash calls
  • Continuously implement process improvement initiatives to increase effectiveness and productivity
  • Complete ad-hoc analyses or reports as required

Qualifications:

  • Relevant undergraduate program in accounting or finance
  • Proactive, self-motivated, flexible, and collaborative individual
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving skills with high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and prioritize various tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Work independently and as an integral part of the team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; technologically savvy
