Our client is a full-service provider of innovative tooling solutions. They are positioned to provide economical, high quality products and services just in time throughout North America and Mexico. They are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee their Design Engineering group.

Working closely with internal and external partners the Engineering Manager shall oversee the mechanical design team and process to ensure all customer requirements and specifications are captured in project drawings, and designs are ready to be delivered to customers. The Engineering Manager with possess well-rounded engineering knowledge, leadership abilities, and is able to lead and grow a team of designers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the mold and fixture design team, to ensure that projects are being completed on time and on spec.
  • Coordinate with designers to ensure scope of work has been adhered to
  • Proposal and estimate preparation, review and costing analysis
  • Ensure scheduled deadlines and project deliverables are maintained for all engineering related assignments
  • Coordinate projects with Program Managers, Production and Customer Design teams.
  • Assist the machinists, toolmakers, and assemblers in problem solvingand providing technical support
  • Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to mold and fixture designs
  • Create engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in the development of molds and fixtures
  • Produces working drawings, detail drawings and bill of materials for molds and fixtures using AutoCAD and Solid Works and Catia V5.
  • Analyze designs for compliance to applicable standards
  • Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc.
  • Ensure transparent communication between Program Manager, Production and Design to efficiently complete change requests.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Organize documentation, drawing registers, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc. on projects.
  • Responsible for communicating time estimates and resource requirements on design tasks to Project Management.

Qualifications

  • University or College Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Diploma in a technical program
  • 10 years minimum and/or in-depth mold design experience using CatiaV5
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM methods, machining and manufacturing techniques
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge surrounding file sharing
  • Proven Leadership abilities and experience
  • Able to foster growth and learning with in a team
  • Ability to work independently, as well with a team to reach a common goal
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD and Catia V5
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
