We’re looking for someone who will have the ability to manage multiple HR deliverables in a fast-paced environment while balancing the needs of the branch and field employees. This individual must be a self-starter with a client-first attitude and will provide the full spectrum of human resources duties and office operation activities at the Branch Offices in Hamilton and Brantford.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as supervisor to branch Human Resources and Administrative Personnel.
  • Hire and recruit Field employees including handling telephone and written inquiries relating to hiring & selection.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of Administrative and/or Supervisory employees as requested by the Area Director.
  • Manage Workers Compensation claims documentation including filing reports, follow-up activities; participate in the development of modified work programs as requested.
  • Schedule and arrange Information Sessions; conduct specific parts of the Information Session, such as payroll; prepare photo identification cards for Field employees.
  • Work in collaboration with the Client Service Manager (CSM) to ensure contracted (guaranteed hours, full-time, part-time) Field Employees are working sufficient hours to minimize top-up/meeting the requirements of the Guaranteed Hours (full-time or part-time) Contracts.
  • Participate in or lead the Health and Safety Program as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Handle all payroll and benefits-related inquiries and assist employees to complete forms.
  • Maintain Field employee human resources files such that all required documentation, including copies of current professional registration, probationary and annual performance reviews, supervisory reports and continuing education documentation are included.
  • Maintain past Field employee human resources files in conjunction with the immediate supervisor and ensure that final performance reviews and/or exit interviews are included.
  • Coordinate or delegate and follow through with employee engagement activities for branch and field employees.
  • Plan and conduct N95 Mask Fit-Testing either during orientation of the field employees or during blitzes.
  • Conduct and participate in branch committees such as Community Outreach, Social and Employee Advisory Committees.
  • Assist with discipline and counseling of employees as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a recognized Human Resources Certificate or Diploma program.
  • 3-5 years of human resources experience, with emphasis in the areas of recruitment, performance management and claims management.
  • Working towards CHRP designation will be considered an asset.
  • Current knowledge of provincial legislation relating to Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Health and Safety, and Labour laws.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Competency in keyboarding and Windows software
  • Ability to operate all standard office equipment
  • Commitment to continued learning.
