Our client is a fast growth, entrepreneurial Canadian manufacturer of baked goods. They are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Director, Human Resources for their headquarters located in northwest Toronto.

Director, Human Resources

In this position you will report to the COO of the company. You will be a strategic business resource to the senior management team and be an influential change agent throughout the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR leader who is intimate with the challenges/opportunities of a high growth, entrepreneurial company.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Be an active contributor to the senior leadership team, ensuring that the company's talent resources are effectively planned, utilized, developed and managed. Employ your industry experience to participate in and impact decisions across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver the Human Capital strategy aligning all areas to the company's short and long term goals.
  • Partner with leaders and influential team members to motivate and embed change throughout the organization. Continuously drive improvements in our culture, and hold our organization accountable for living our values.
  • Partner with leaders throughout the organization to help to shape the company, department and individual goals. Building strong relationships at all levels is critical within this position.
  • Identify talent strengths and gaps and design solutions to bridge identified gaps. Develop succession planning strategy and build the company's capabilities and bench strength, preparing the company for the future.
  • Lead recruiting strategy and initiatives to ensure the company is developing and maintaining a sustainable talent pipeline.
  • Be an active participant in current/future merger & acquisition processes including due diligence, integration planning, and execution. Lead the human capital post-closing integration and restructuring.
  • Be accountable for a high performing HR team, capable of impactful business partnering and achievement of service delivery excellence. Work collaboratively with US-based HR functions to share best practices and leverage synergies. Lead with continuous critical review of HR foundational programs to ensure alignment with business direction, desired outcomes, and evolving global culture.


Key Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 5 years at the senior management level.
  • Post-secondary education with an MBA and HR professional designation preferred
  • Continuous learner with strong external network and ability to leverage best practices
  • Experience with multi-national and small entrepreneurial environments over the past 15+ years, with experience in both privately owned and public companies would be ideal.
  • Progressive HR leadership skills – ability to challenge the ‘status quo’ and look for the right solutions to fit this business direction and strategy.
  • Ability to quickly identify and implement programs and processes to support growth
  • Passionate about company culture and ‘fit’.
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation, business and culture results initiated and led by yourself in positions of progressive responsibility. Leadership by example and a history of creating teams who have a reputation for results delivery.
  • High degree of professionalism, personal integrity, influence, follow-through and impact
