The Occupational Health Nurse works under the direction of Occupational Health and Safety Program Manager. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, ongoing monitoring and maintenance of various programs and services offered under Bayshore Home Health’s Occupational Health and Safety program delivery to Regional Industries/workplaces.

Key responsibilities include building business relationships, developing and delivering presentations, creating a high profile for Bayshore in the community, and executing local marketing initiatives. As well, the Occupational Health Nurse ensures compliance with internal and external standards of practice and Federal and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
The primary goal of this position is to generate new and ongoing business opportunities enabling the branch to achieve its sales targets.

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
  • Promote Bayshore Occupational Health and Safety programs through community relations, events, and information sessions and build relationships with external influencers, contacts and customers.
  • Assist with the development of branch marketing/business plan.
  • Update Procura data base of business contacts and marketing activities through use Computer software.
  • Liaise with employers, employees and customers with respect to satisfaction initiatives to ensure all concerns and complaints are satisfactorily addressed and managed.
  • Liaise with Provincial and Federal regulating bodies as required.
  • Complete other tasks as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Graduation from an accredited University/College with successful completion of Occupational Health and Safety Certificate.
  • Registered with the College of Nurses in the applicable province.
  • Strong knowledge of Workplace and Occupational acts (Provincial and Federal).
  • First Aid and CPR training certificate.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Occupational Health and safety Program delivery.
  • Working knowledge of computerized health documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, health assessment, judgment and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently as well as in team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and expertise in formulating competitive strategies and Managing policies, practices, trends and information affecting total business.

  • Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective and consistent manner.

  • Strong entrepreneurial, marketing, communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Goldmine software, or ability to quickly learn how to use these tools.
  • Ability to attain a basic understanding in use of Procura scheduling software.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to occasionally undertake out-of-town travel if required (e.g., training, national meetings, conferences).
