Over 30 years ago Toyota's first foray into North American manufacturing operations was to build a wheel manufacturing facility in Delta, British Columbia called Canadian Autoparts Toyota Inc (CAPTIN). Our plant is a fast paced and lean operation that draws on the support of the larger Toyota family. We are a 160-person manufacturing facility has core operations that include melting, casting, machining, finishing, painting and repair.

We are currently looking for a skilled Millwright in our Maintenance department. Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance, a successful candidate possesses a trade certificate as a Millwright. The candidate should also have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. You have a real “shop floor” orientation and enjoy leading change within a multi-shift, continuous process environment.

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspection
  • Modify and improve machines as required
  • Create and maintain a sustainable PM Program for new machinery
  • Perform hydraulic and pneumatic repairs
  • Perform mechanical repairs, including rebuilding parts and replacing chuck parts, bearings, and ball screws
  • Perform minor repairs to forklift trucks
  • Some welding where required
  • Install mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
  • Design a sustainable PM Program for new machinery
  • Follow and promote the company’s safety rules and perform safety checks on equipment before starting work
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately
  • Follow and promote 5S standards
  • Participate in QC Circles activities and present results at least once per year
  • Other duties as required

Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Red Seal Certification as a Millwright
  • General awareness of ISO 14001 and ISO 9002 impacts/work instructions
  • Principles, practices and techniques of machining and maintenance
  • Strong tooling knowledge - feeds, speeds, cutting tools and work fixtures
  • Able to read mechanical drawings
  • Excellent organization, time-management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under tight time deadlines
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and decision-making ability
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with team Members and management
  • Able to lift 30 lbs
  • Demonstrate aptitude/experience with chemicals

Other Information:

  • Monday – Friday rotating 3 shift (6:25-14:55, 14:35-23:05, 22:45-6:45), or Friday – Monday 10 hour day shifts
  • Shift premiums will be offered
  • Good attendance is mandatory
